today, you will:
- review computer science vocabulary, and learn the difference between VECTOR and BITMAP graphics
- build the basic components of your first video game
Step 1:
- Create a NEW scratch project, and title it "Paddle Game - [name]"
- Delete the cat sprite.
- Add a new sprite (choose the yellow ball from the sprite menu).
Step 2:
Watch the first two videos, below. When you are done, check the costumes tab to make sure that the ball sprite you added in Step 1 is in "Vector Mode."
Step 3:
Watch the next video to see how to give your first sprite some functionality (to make it move around the screen).
Add the blocks that I added in the video. Your scripts panel should look like this:
Step 4:
Add a new sprite to your project, and select the "Paddle" sprite (it's green). Then, watch the last video to see how to modify the Paddle sprite for Player 1 and Player 2.
Almost done! In your Scratch project, test out your answer to question 3 (how could you get the ball to bounce off of Player 1 and Player 2?).
